Who We Are

We are a small staff of 3 that run community-engaging fundraising events that raise critical funds for TJO along with promoting awareness and resources. We hold 4 signature fundraising events each year, along with several campaigns to reach our goals. We have a board of directors that volunteer their time to provide governance and assistance with planning committees and the events themselves. And yes, we are animal-lovers! We all have mini zoos at home.

What We Do

The Foundation for TJO Animals raises funds that provide resources and support for critical veterinary care and enrichment for the animals at the Thomas J O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center. TJO is the municipal shelter that services Springfield, Chicopee, & Holyoke. Animal control focuses on public safety and bringing in animals from the street or situations of neglect, cruelty, abuse, etc. The adoption center cares for these and surrendered animals, providing shelter, nutrition, enrichment, and veterinary care. The Foundation works as the fundraising arm of the shelter. We cover medical expenses ranging from preventatives and clinic staff/supplies/equipment to ER visits, surgeries, specialist visits, rehabilitation, etc. We also fund projects and improvements to programs that focus on the animals' mental health in order to help them navigate shelter life successfully and hopefully be adopted. We make sure TJO has what they need to give every animal a second chance at a happy, safe life.
